Drive Spindle For Iron Processing

A set of 3500 lbs. Drive Spindles were brought to our attention with bearing areas worn. A high temperature welding process, in a controlled environment, for build-up & machine was tried in the past with no success, due to fracture inclusions that resulted in cracking due to the high stress level in the production process the spindles endure.

We at Sterling used our Metalizing Technology to the worn areas of the spindles, using similar build-up material with a hardness of 35 RC, then machined back to drawing specification. This process saved our customer the expense of a new replacement.
